"As President and COO of The MJ Companies, a privately-held insurance brokerage established in 1964, we were proud of our success but sought to elevate our business from good to excellent. We had been using the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) for many years, but as our company grew, we realized we had outgrown its "one size fits all" application.
Our significant growth introduced increased organizational complexity, including multiple geographic markets and divisions, which presented new challenges. A lack of clarity in our structure undermined accountability and decision-making, and our meetings lacked the discipline and execution necessary for effective operations. We recognized the need for a meeting process and cadence tailored to our evolving business.
The team health of our Executive Leadership Team (ELT) suffered from our structure as we grew, leading to siloed operations between our two primary business units. We engaged in extensive discussion and debate to identify meaningful changes and ultimately created a "One MJ" initiative to align our structure, responsibilities, and expectations, better positioning us to achieve our long-term strategy.
Chad and the team at The Resultants helped us create a customized Business Operating System (BOS) to fit our organization's size and needs, incorporating tools from other processes like LEAN and Agile. A comprehensive planning and communication process connected our long-term vision to our front-line employees, ensuring everyone was aligned and moving in the same direction. We also established a middle-line leadership team and addressed structural gaps to build connectivity across our multiple geographies.
Throughout this transformation, our strong company culture fueled our financial performance and growth, meeting and exceeding organizational growth while maintaining healthy profitability. We intentionally prioritized culture above all else, resulting in a deep, talented, and resilient team ready to lead us into the next chapter of our journey."
Jon Loftin,
President and COO
